Study Overview

The MOTION Study is evaluating an investigational procedure called genicular artery embolization (GAE) to see if it is safe and effective in providing relief for arthritis knee pain. GAE is a minimally invasive procedure designed to treat chronic knee pain, particularly in patients suffering from mild-to-severe knee arthritis. It is designed to “trim” the blood flow in inflamed parts of the knee, which may reduce inflammation and pain.

Study participants will be randomly assigned (like flipping a coin) to receive either the investigational procedure or steroid injections over a period of 24 months. All study participants will receive study-related care, study treatment, and assessments at no cost.
