If you or a loved one have been recently diagnosed with colon cancer, the ACTION Study is evaluating how different durations of exercise may help enhance the body’s tolerance to chemotherapy.
Study Overview
Years of clinical research suggest the potential benefits of exercise during chemotherapy treatment1; however, more research is needed to help determine what level of exercise provides the greatest benefits.
That is why we’re conducting the ACTION Study: a clinical research study to help determine if different durations of exercise can improve how well you tolerate chemotherapy for colon cancer.

Research Right in Your Neighborhood
The study visits will take place at the LSU Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge, but your cancer treatment location won’t change. The physical activity will take place in your home. Your expected time in this study will be approximately the duration of your chemotherapy (usually three to six months), consisting of two or three study visits and approximately 12 or 24 telephone calls (one for each week that you are in the study).
